Going to Tagaytay

Speaking of easily accessible roads, how can you go to the “summer capital” in the South? It can be as simple as riding a car and entering your specific Tagaytay destination on the map. But aside from taking a personal vehicle, you can also ride a bus, taxi, or van. But basically, here are the different ways how to travel from Metro Manila to Tagaytay City.

By Car

If you are using a private vehicle, you can either pass through South Luzon ExpresswayCavite-Laguna Expressway, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Tagaytay-Calamba Road, Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway, or Emilio Aguinaldo Highway. The former is much faster than the latter, however, there will be tolls ahead. Once you reach the Tagaytay Rotunda, you’ll know that you’re in Tagaytay.

By Bus

If you are traveling by bus, you can either go to Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) where there are buses bound directly to Tagaytay, or start from the Buendia Bus Terminal which will pass by the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and you will have to ride a bus that is bound for Nasugbu or Calatagan, Batangas.

By Van

There are several terminals for vans going to Tagaytay. One is in Alabang Terminal near Festival Mall, Calatagan Van Terminal, and at Starmall EDSA–Shaw across SM Megamall. 

What Is the Main Product of Tagaytay?

Tagaytay’s main products are pineapple, coffee, banana, cocoa, camote, cassava, and root crops.

Tagaytay’s soil is rich in volcanic components, making it suitable for farming. Pineapple, coffee, banana, cocoa, camote, cassava, and root crops are its main agricultural products. Pineapple, in particular, is a signature fruit of Tagaytay, with pineapple farms covering the majority of the area. Fresh produce sold in Tagaytay has outstanding quality and flavor due to the city’s crisp chilly temperature. There are also many garden plant shops scattered all around Tagaytay.

Why Is It Cold in Tagaytay?

Southwest of Luzon, located on Tagaytay Ridge at about 2,000 feet or 600 meters above sea level, Tagaytay City is colder than most areas in Luzon due to its elevation. With its high altitude situated and year-round cold, Tagaytay living has become ideal for most Filipinos living on a tropical island.
