There is something extra special with tennis that we cannot quite pinpoint. Perhaps it is the fact that tennis players are one of the most well-paid athletes ever meaning, aside from basketball and soccer, this sport is indeed highly appreciated by billions of people. While basketball’s Michael Jordan reigns as the highest-paid athlete in the men’s category, Roger Federer, coined as the Greatest of All Time in the roster of tennis and paddling tennis balls across the court is not far behind with the rank of 10th on this list with $1.12 billion of earnings. Whereas the highest-paid female athlete is, guess what? A tennis player. Specifically, Naomi Osaka, a fellow Asian star, who whopped $57.3 million in prize money and endorsements over the last year.

Aside from this fact, icons (take note, not tennis icons but ICONS) play this sport. Serena Williams is not only known to be one of kind of a tennis player but also adored to be a feminist and black icon. This 40-year-old mom is famous for revolutionizing women’s tennis with her powerful style of playing tennis and for winning more Grand Slam singles titles (23) than any other woman or man during the open era. Additionally, her unshakeable self-belief is a big part of what makes Williams so inspiring. Whether she’s subverting stiff sporting dress codes, helping to build schools in Jamaica, or speaking out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, the player never fails to impress – both on and off the court.

Many Filipino icons play tennis, too which is arguably the most popular racket sports. Beauty queen Gloria Diaz is known to always be seen at the Manila Polo Club playing doubles with fellow tennis fanatics. The gorgeous twins of Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel, Cassy and Mavy, both play tennis as well. Zoren used to be their coach (and a pretty good tennis player, in fact) when his twins used to join age group tennis tournaments. Of course, we all know that there is a stereotype of tennis that it is a rich-people sport where successful and rich men would be seen to play tennis with their trophy wives as their partners in doubles. Indeed, a lot of successful people play tennis during their free time but still, this sport is free to anyone! Especially you, fellow successful and well-deserved bunch with your lovely Crown Asia house and lot for sale.

Try other racket sports as well!

Padel is a racket sport and typically played in doubles on an enclosed court roughly 25% slightly smaller than the size of a tennis court. Scoring is the same as normal tennis and the balls used are similar but with a little less pressure. The main differences are that the court has walls and the balls can be played off them in a similar way as in the game of squash and that solid, string-less bats are used. Yup! You read that right. You can totally use the walls to your advantage when playing this sport! Very interesting, isn’t it? Another difference is that the height of the ball being served must be at or below the waist level, not the usual high toss of the ball people do in tennis.

Compared to tennis, a study says that the padel is simpler and gives us more pleasure from the first moment we pick up a racquet. Tennis is more technical, requires a higher level of physical condition, and presents an additional point of difficulty. In addition, you have to do several pieces of training and matches to be able to play at an average level.
